Before we determine whether you have primal fear or not, let's first define what we're talking about here.

I'm a bit of a fan of Richard Gere. There are several movies that he starred in, that I'm not going to list here, where he shows his true swag. In these roles, he absolutely nails the role. One of those movies is Primal Fear.

In this movie, Richard Gere plays the convincing role a dynamic, hard working attorney. He's representing this boy who was accused of murder. Things are not looking good for the young boy and he's certain to be found guilty and sentenced to death. But his attorney, played by Richard Gere, introduces the notion that his client is bipolar - a far stretch. Having a hard time convincing the judge and the jury, Richard Gere pulls a desperate move and decides he's going to provoke his own client while on the stand and try to make his client's other personality come out. It works! He wins the case! His client lives.

The next scene shows Richard Gere visiting his client in his prison cell, where he's being held until it's time to transfer him temporarily to the mental ward. In that private conversation between the attorney and his client, the client reveals that he doesn't have split personality and he was just putting on a show. He goes so far as to say to his attorney that he thought that he knew it was a front and was acting right along with him. He laughs about it, as Richard Gere walks away, knowing that he just got played.

You should have already taken the time to find yourself a good attorney. And not just good in the sense that he or she gets their clients what they want. But good in the sense that he or she has a good heart. Don't corrupt your good attorney with deceptive behaviors and manipulative thinking. Keep things 100 with your attorney. Be honest and let him or her determine how to best represent you from there. Don't fall into the trap of having primal fear, where you're setting your attorney up to look foolish on your behalf. Win your battle for your kids based on truth. Win it based on doing what's right. Win it straight up. Win it with integrity and honor, so your children will respect your noble efforts one day.
